List of Eligible Skilled Occupations | January 2018 Update

Based on the review conducted by the Department of Jobs and Small Business last 2017, the list of eligible skilled occupations have been updated to address the needs of the Australian labour market.

The changes listed below will only affect applications submitted and invitations issued from 17 January 2018 onwards.

 

OCCUPATIONS ADDED TO STSOL

Property Manager (ANZSCO 612112)

Property Managers cannot be nominated under the following circumstances:

  • the base salary of the nominated occupation is lower than AUD 65,000
  • the company has less than five employees
  • the company’s annual turnover is lower than $1M (AUD)

Psychotherapist (ANZSCO 272314)

No restrictions apply to the Psychotherapist occupation.

Real Estate Representative (ANZSCO 612115)

Real Estate Representatives cannot be nominated under the following circumstances:

  • the base salary of the nominated occupation is lower than AUD 65,000
  • the company has less than five employees
  • the company’s annual turnover is lower than $1M (AUD)
  • the company is located outside of regional Australia

 

OCCUPATIONS MOVED TO THE MLTSSL FROM STSOL

Horse Breeder (ANZSCO 121316)

Horse breeders cannot be nominated under the following circumstances:

  • occupation is mainly involve low-skilled tasks such as fruit picking, fruit packing and feeding of animals
  • the company is located outside of regional Australia

Management Consultant (ANZSCO 224711)

Manager consultants cannot be nominated under the following circumstances:

  • the base salary of the nominated occupation is lower than AUD 90,000
  • the company has less than five employees
  • the company’s annual turnover is lower than $1M (AUD)

Note: No occupations will be transferred to the STSOL from the MLTSSL

 

OCCUPATIONS WITH REVISED RESTRICTIONS

Accommodation and Hospitality Managers nec (ANZSCO 141999)

Accommodation and hospitality managers cannot be nominated under the following circumstances:

  • the company is located outside of regional Australia

Management Accountant (ANZSCO 221112)

Management accountants cannot be nominated under the following circumstances:

  • performing clerical, bookkeeping and accounting clerk duties
  • the company has less than five employees
  • the company’s annual turnover is lower than $1M (AUD)

Massage Therapist (ANZSCO 411611)

Massage therapists cannot be nominated under the following circumstances:

  • part-time positions
  • not based in a therapeutic setting
  • involves the provision of non-medical relaxation massage
  • involved in a retail setting

Recruitment Consultant (ANZSCO 223112)

Recruitment consultants cannot be nominated under the following circumstances:

  • the base salary of the nominated occupation is lower than AUD 90,000
  • the company has less than five employees
  • the company’s annual turnover is lower than $1M (AUD)

Supply and Distribution Manager (ANZSCO 133611)

Supply and distribution managers cannot be nominated under the following circumstances:

  • based in a front-line retail setting
  • mainly involve a regular direct interaction with clients for transactions
  • The base salary of the nominated occupation is lower than AUD 65,000 with the exception of companies that involve intra-corporate transfer where international trade obligation applies
  • the company’s annual turnover is lower than $1M (AUD) with the exception of companies that involve intra-corporate transfer where international trade obligation applies

Taxation Accountant (ANZSCO 221113)

Taxation accountants cannot be nominated under the following circumstances:

  • performing clerical, bookkeeping and accounting clerk duties
  • the company has less than five employees
  • the company’s annual turnover is lower than $1M (AUD)

 

OCCUPATIONS REMOVED (effective 17 January 2018)

The following occupations will be removed from the lists of eligible occupations for all skilled visa programs starting

17 January 2018.

  • Building Associate (ANZSCO 312112)
  • Hair or Beauty Salon Manager (ANZSCO 142114)
